This was shot last summer of my new friends along the Colorado River. There’s nothing quite like the blend of hot air and cold water. Throw a boat, music and some marshmallows in there and you have a party. I seriously had an incredible time despite the challenges of trying to get a steady shot on a boat.

Courtney and Brian easily became one of my favorites. Filming down in Coronado, CA gave us perfect weather. Running around on the beach and docks and eating the best sushi of my life is nothing to complain about. My job is pretty awesome but only because I get to work with awesome people. It wasn’t until the end of the day when they (I should say “we” cause I totally feel like an intruder to their privacy in such a place) were snuggling in bed and we listened to this song and had the thought that it starts and ends with this kind of cool story, so we went with it. Congratulations to these two who just got married and were able to show this at their reception.
Nancy & Alex have rad style, dig cool music and are an all-around dream couple. Did we mention they also know how to have a good time?! We (Iris and Light team) shot their engagement film and photos in one afternoon in Venice and Malibu, CA. Their wedding was last weekend and after the film played on the big screen during their reception, the place went crazy! It’s always the best feeling to see that kind of reaction. We mixed in some stills and then looped it all night while everyone was partying. Talk about an amazingly fun night. It’s why we do what we do.:) Check out the full post with the amazing photos at www.irisandlight.com

I’ve never seen this side of San Francisco before. We shot this whole thing in the middle or on the outer skirts of the big city. David and Lisa were geared up for an incredible day and were complete ballers. Literally. It was cold and dark at the end of the day and they still wanted to do some b-ball shots. Not to mention that they treated us to some delicious food, this trip was definitely worth it.
It’s not on every short film that I go as far as manipulating the image, even for a short 2 seconds, but I did on this one. On the crane lift shot toward the beginning with David and Lisa running away from the camera there were approximately 5 other people and 6 cars I think that used to be in that shot. They were small but added clutter. I thought that if I took them out (see slideshow below) that it would really focus on these two lovebirds in a big city all by themselves – so to speak. After all, when you are in the moment, you don’t see all the distractions about us anyway, they all just sort of disappear. So I did just that — to help the viewers get in the moment as well. Oh, and I rigged the license plates too. How could I not? With matching silver Benzos all I needed was a free online license plate font. Done. All in all, David and Lisa were a blast to hang out with. What makes it for me is that they had FUN instead of just making out on camera the whole time. Waaaay better. Have yourself a looksie.
I think I have to create a new category called “Hybrid” for films like this. It’s a wedding/engagement combo, and I like it. It all started when the forecast called for rain on Matt and Aubrey’s wedding day. So between that and sharing time with the photographer, I decided to meet up with them a week before the wedding and get some fun shots ahead of time like an engagement film. Well, I think it turned out to be something pretty awesome.
