Already Forgotten – Haiti

Yesterday I got back from a short trip to Haiti with the intent of documenting the progress of the relief efforts and condition of the people. The film is in my backlist of projects to edit, but I had to share a few screen caps of what is to come as well as a few photos I took. The conditions are unimaginable. Try thinking of the worst place you’ve ever seen on TV and then multiply it by 10. It’s horrifying. There are serious problems and it leaves you wondering where and how do you start to repair? The government is corrupt and they were poor to begin with. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the detailed film with more on the conditions and corruption of the already forgotten island.

Balboa Island

It all started in Newport Beach and ended on Balboa Island. It’s obvious that Erin and Warren aren’t your typical bride and groom, because they are legit-ly cool people and aren’t afraid to have fun anywhere. It also helps to have a cool photographer who works well with you and likes to have the same kind of crazy fun. He actually took a photo-sequence of the groom running behind the bride as you see here and merged them. I saw it, and thought I’d give it a crack for the film as well. But if there’s a lesson for all brides out there, it’s this: you have to have fun, you have to step out of your box a little because it’s your wedding day.
Two more things: allow yourself time to spend with your videographer (and photographer) and pick cool music. This piece certainly has an edge to it which fit Erin and Warren quite well, but just don’t feel like you have to resort to Jack Johnson, Michael Buble, Colbie Callet… get my point? All great musicians, but there’s a lot more out there.
So enjoy this quick little film of Erin and Warren’s wedding day. Given the chance I would do it again any day.
